PERSOCOM / CHOBITS / CHII EARS PATTERN
Since I couldn't find any patterns for persocom ears ala Chobits, I went and drafted a set. These are based off of a pair a friend made me a few years ago. When I pulled the ears out recently for a display, they were kind of flat and unhappy, and I couldn't get them to perk up. So I took one apart and fiddled with it. The resulting pattern is for your enjoyment and is NOT to be sold, either as a pattern or made up into ears. They are for your personal cosplay enjoyment. :) The image is large, but true to real size. This means print it as is onto card stock (so you can trace and not pin), and make sure the printer is on landscape setting so you get the full pattern. There is no seam allowance, so if you want some you're going to have to add your own. Notches on the upper ear piece: the two notches on the lower edge are to match the cut edge of the lower ear. When you place the lower ear, be sure to match the center line of the lower ear to the center line of the upper ear. It's not an exact science, so play with placement before you glue/stitch the pieces into place. The two notches on either side of the 'point' of the upper ear are where you end the glue/stitching. These leaves a tiny opening at the tip of the ear. Why did I do this? To reduce bulk. There can be a lot of material coming together right there, and I wanted to eliminate that.
Play with size, too. You can enlarge the image, or shrink it down. Have fun with it! Be creative! Let me know how yours turn out, and I can put you up here so people can see what can be done with this pattern.
Enjoy!
